Our services
The SAFE Project will support those working in the sex industry to report violence, attacks and incidents through our local ugly mug scheme, which is part of the National Ugly Mug (NUM) scheme.
An “ugly mug” is anyone whose behaviour you feel is unacceptable. It may be a client, a member of the public, or another sex worker.
SAFE can provide information and advice for sex workers in all sectors. We can provide free personal safety alarms, up-to-date ugly mug alerts and emotional support to help you.
If you’ve been threatened, raped or assaulted, stalked or harassed, blackmailed, or had online abuse or outing, you can talk to an outreach worker who will take details if you feel able to discuss it, and who will offer you advice and support.
By completing an ugly mug report you can increase the chance of the ugly mug being brought to justice and help keep other sex workers safe.
You can sign up to NUM yourself, which allow you to receive alerts from other sex workers in your area. National Ugly Mugs also has an email checker and a phone number checker.
If you don’t want to sign up to NUM, please get in touch with the SAFE project team, who will send you alerts.
