About us
Our team
On a visit to one of our clinics, you might meet the following people.
Consultants
Consultants manage our more complex patients and act as a source of expertise for the other clinic staff to refer to.
Doctors
The doctors at our clinics treat and manage patients with symptoms, treat patients who require a contraceptive procedure and train other healthcare professionals who want to expand their skills and knowledge in sexual health.
Nurses
Our nurses perform a number of different duties, depending on their skills and level of training.
Nursing staff examine patients, perform patient testing, discuss HIV tests, give test results and administer treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Nurses can also prescribe contraception, including emergency hormonal contraception (also known as the morning-after pill), and perform contraceptive procedures, such as inserting implants or intrauterine devices (IUDs).
Some nurses are trained to deal with more types of treatment or testing than others, but all of our nurses are constantly training to add to their skills and gain further qualifications.
Health advisors
Our health advisors deal with partner notification (where consent has been given), and offer both pre-test and post-test discussion for HIV testing. They can help patients with complex or stressful problems, or with delivering difficult news.
Health advisors also see our younger patients to help to establish if there are any concerns or worries.
Administration
Our administration team includes our reception staff and medical secretaries, as well as finance, IT, education and management staff. The medical secretaries assist the consultants, doctors and the managerial staff to ensure we provide a high quality and responsive service. Administrative staff are responsible for the administration of patient attendance, including welcoming and registering patients. They work closely with doctors and nurses to ensure smooth running of the clinics.
