Informing your partner of an infection

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV can cause serious health problems if left untreated.

If you test positive for an STI or HIV, it’s important to let your partner(s) know so they can get tested too, and find any treatment they need. It may also help to stop you catching an STI again.

We know informing your partner(s) of an infection can be difficult. That’s why our health advisors are trained to help with partner notification (sometimes called contact tracing).

See our pages on STI and HIV partner notification to find out more.
