What is domestic abuse?

Domestic abuse can be physical, sexual or financial abuse, or it might be controlling, coercive (forceful) or threatening behaviour.

There are other types of domestic abuse, e.g. online abuse. It is mostly by a partner or ex-partner but can be from family members or carers. It can affect children or adults.

The people involved can be any gender or sexuality.

If you are in an emergency situation, please call 999. If it is unsafe for you to speak on the phone, after dialling 999 just press 55 for the silent solution.

You can also text 999 if you are unable to call them due to hearing or speech impairments.
