Sexual abuse includes a wide range of activity which involves forcing or pressuring people into doing things they don’t want to do, or aren’t able to agree to.
Giving consent to sexual contact means that you agree to have sex or to be intimate with someone.
Rape and sexual assault
Rape means somebody having sex with you without your consent (by sex we mean somebody inserting their penis into your vagina, mouth or anus).
Sexual exploitation is when people use the power they have over people – usually young people and children – to sexually abuse them.
Underage sex means having sex when below the age of consent, which is the age at which you're legally allowed to have sex.
Female genital mutilation (FGM)
Female genital mutilation (sometimes referred to as female circumcision) refers to procedures that intentionally alter or cause injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons.
